Leaving on a Jet Plane

I said “Goodbye” to Saipan in 2003.  But as you read this, our plane will probably be flying over the pacific ocean headed back to that tiny island.

It was almost a decade ago when I first landed on US soil. I arrived dreamy-eyed yet determined to seek a good Bible college education. I was full of dreams and hopes of learning much and then go places to be a teacher perhaps back in Saipan, or the Philippines, or Africa. I was dreaming of going places and learning of different cultures and languages.

I am not returning with a passport laden with a collage of stamps from India, Jamaica, Africa, New Zealand or some other recent travel adventure. I don’t have the bachelor’s or the master’s I was aiming for.  Just a heart ravaged and then again built up by my God.  Humbled and greatly blessed.

I am returning with a heart longing to be reunited to the husband He has given and with whom I make and share earth’s heaven.  An arm clutching a precious child who is yet barely have taught me so much of God’s grace. For that is a part of her name “Jane” reminding us that “God is Gracious”.

A heart of sadness for leaving dear family who love, and care for us.

And dear friends He’s given me here in the States. Dear memories made with them.

Today I  flew out of America’s east coast and I’m returning to that tiny Island in the pacific.  So minuscule compared to the vast Americas yet it is the best place and the only place in the world I would rather be : the island that contain my darling, My husband.

There aren’t numerous travel stamps.  But there is a journey ahead filled with life’s adventures with my sweetheart.

There is no laminated paper with that massive degree.  But the opportunities for learning and teaching still abound and ready for the taking.

There are no fireworks, bells, or whistles.  There is the babbling, crying, and laughter of baby “Jane” who reminds us that God is ever so gracious.

I am so glad that you are now back to where you belong. Praise God you are fully blessed!! Continue trusting the Lord….. as well as what you’ve started your “Home and Bahay”

Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.
