Keeping it Real: My List of Shame
This post was inspired by Kat at Inspired to Action . She blogged about 25 things of which she’s not very proud.
I don’t know about you, but I find it easier to write about harmless things. And by “harmless”, I mean those things of which when people read, they won’t have the urge to click that tiny red button marked with “x” (on the top right corner of the page) and they won’t wish they never knew you…
I find that with blogging, it is very possible to present a persona (intentionally or unintentionally) that is not totally accurate (i.e. “I have it all together” “I’m a sweet wife and a fun mom” “I’m superwoman” etc.). I personally would like to keep it real as much as possible. I want to be open and honest. Truth is, I am a learner. I am learning to be a wife, a mother, a sister, a housekeeper, a reader, a writer (and other things).
Along the way, I fall flat on my face and I learn of Grace all over again.
So here’s the list of things I am not very proud of …
“The 20 Things (I Don’t Want You to Know) About Me”
- (In the Philippines) My last year of High School…I flunked Math.
- (In the Philippines) I was a High School Summer Grad…because I flunked Math.
- I stink at doing laundry [washing, folding, putting away- the whole shebang].
- I nag.
- My real name should be “Eeyore la Pessimist”.
- I have an evil twin sister affectionately named Helga by my hubby (or at least I claim to have one ). She’s very mean.
- I often sweat the small stuff.
- I check my blog stats way too often.
- I have a hard time saying “I’m sorry. I was wrong.”
- I have yet to return to a consistent time of prayer
- I have yet to return to a consistent time of reading my Bible.
- I pout.
- I hardly ever floss.
- I missed my daughter’s (monumental) first immunization shots [GASP!] because I stayed up too late blogging the night before [very bad mothering]. Hubby took her [I love him].
- I’m finding it harder to come up with 20 things I don’t want you to know about me that I am still willing to share.
- (In the Philippines) At age 16 [and to my dear Mama's shock, shame, and indignation] I got 2 butterfly tattoos.
- I’m really bad at sending cards and snail mail letters.
- I can have a very unforgiving spirit.
- I can’t bake (worth a hoot).
- I grind my teeth (especially when very tired or stressed out) in my sleep.
So why write about such “harmful” things? Why not stick with the normal “About Me” page?
Come back next Friday and I’ll tell ya’!
That is, if you still want to hang out with a person with such a list…

I don’t agree with item #5. I don’t think you’re a pessimist.
When you get here, teach me how to bake… Buy the oven too.
LOL! I knew you could have written this list yourself
I’d love to buy the oven for you just send me the moolah! Also we could probably invent something that will allow us to bake outdoors…since it’s too hot over there!

I think we all have a scary list, don’t we? The good news is that God loved us before we even started “working” on our making our list shorter. And he loves us still even though we fail Him so many times. I think you are sweet too <3
I hope you had a good weekend before things get busy with school!
You are still the best, love you
You’re the best-est!
Love you much <3
